Elizabeth Salna for more information
Elizabeth has been consulting at The Centre for Health and Wellbeing for over 2 years and has been in clinical practice for 45 years. During this time, she has assisted people with a number of psychological conditions, including stress, anxiety, depression and childhood trauma. Her current focus is longstanding anxiety as well as childhood trauma.
Regardless of age or presenting condition, Elizabeth is increasingly aware of the close links between the body, mind, heart and spirit. For example: an exhausted and depleted body may be accompanied by emotional numbness and a loss of spirit or vitality in life. Long term anxiety may result in vulnerability to stress, an entrenched habit of overthinking, as well as some chronic physical imbalances; and childhood trauma may lead to difficulties in regulating emotions, with stress related physical conditions.
When treating her clients, Elizabeth believes it is important to work in collaboration with them, and with their GP, to bring strength, support and balance to all areas – body, mind, heart and spirit. Elizabeth is particularly drawn to a heart-centered approach. Elizabeth describes this as creating a setting where it is safe to connect with and explore emotions. She believes that this encourages integration of the effects of life experiences and allows for a greater capacity to make choices and decisions based on self-awareness, self-compassion and self- direction.
Elizabeth has also noticed some recurring life challenges in her work at the Centre – especially in the age group 40 - 65. These include: loss of a sense of self, due to work or family pressures; learning to live with a chronic physical illness; lack of emotional intimacy with partners; communicating issues with adult children; loss of social connection; providing practical or financial support for grandchildren; or being a carer or decision-maker for elderly parents.
With this in mind, Elizabeth is offering private 1 or 2 sessions at the Centre for Health and Wellbeing for people interested in having a brief chat exploring and problem solving issues that may trouble us in our everyday lives. No Mental Health Care Plan is required from your GP. Sessions are 90 minutes in length and are designed to be either ‘one off’ or a longer term as required. The fee is $220 for one 90 minutes session and $180 for an additional session. Private health rebates may apply - check eligibility with your fund.
